Dr. Brent Van Hook

Senior Pastor

Dr. Brent Van Hook pastors First Church of the Nazarene in Wichita, Kansas (www.firstnaz.org). Wichita First Nazarene is a growing church including Anglo and Hispanic congregations.  Brent also pastored growing churches in Chickasha, Oklahoma; Edmond, Oklahoma; and Clearwater, South Carolina. Brent’s passions for ministry include leadership development, team-building, creative outreach, and preaching. 

Brent grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas (’92) and Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky (M.Div. ’97 and D.Min ’06). He attended MidAmerica on academic and football scholarships. His D.Min. degree at Asbury was part of the Beeson Pastor Fellowship program for Leadership and Preaching led by Dale Galloway.

Brent and his wife, Susan, have two sons: Matthew and John David. Brent enjoys coaching his sons’ sports teams, being a sports fan, reading books about U.S. Presidents, golfing, hunting, jogging, and swimming.
